Temperature Effects on Core g-Modes of Neutron Stars

چکیده

Neutron stars provide a unique physical laboratory to study the properties of matter at high density. We diagnostic composition high-density matter, namely, g-mode oscillations, which are driven by buoyancy forces. These oscillations can be excited tidal forces and couple gravitational waves. extend prior results for spectrum cold neutron star temperatures that expected achieved in mergers using parameterization finite-temperature effects recently proposed Raithel, \"Ozel Psaltis. find g-modes canonical mass ($\approx$1.4$M_{\odot}$) suppressed temperature, core $g$-modes supported only most massive ($\geq $2$M_{\odot}$) hot stars.

Radial Modes of Neutron Stars with a Quark Core

We make a first calculation of eigenfrequencies of radial pulsations of neutron stars with quark cores in a general relativistic formalism given by Chandrasekhar. The equations of state (EOS) used to estimate such eigenfrequencies have been derived by taking proper care of the hadron-quark phase transition. The hadronic EOS’s have been obtained in the framework of the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock and...

Inertial modes of neutron stars with the superfluid core

We investigate the modal properties of inertial modes of rotating neutron stars with the core filled with neutron and proton superfluids, taking account of entrainment effects between the superfluids. In this paper, the entrainment effects are modeled by introducing a parameter η so that no entrainment state is realized at η = 0. We find that inertial modes of rotating neutron stars with the su...

Secular Instability of g-Modes in Rotating Neutron Stars

Gravitational radiation tends to drive gravity modes in rotating neutron stars unstable. For an inviscid star, the instability sets in when the rotation frequency is about 0.7 times the corresponding mode frequency of the nonrotating star. Neutron stars with spin frequencies > ∼ 100 Hz are susceptible to this instability, with growth time of order years. However, it is likely that viscous dissi...

Thermal g-modes and unexpected convection in superfluid neutron stars

We suggest that specific thermal low-frequency g-modes can exist in superfluid neutron stars. They can be excited in the matter with a nonzero gradient of entropy per electron. We determine the Brunt-Väisälä frequency for these modes and demonstrate that they can be unstable with respect to convection. The criterion for the instability onset (analogue of the well-known Schwarzschild criterion) ...
